The fourth quarter of 2021 was the strongest year in direct mail in years. However, the year to come will present unique challenges. Supply chain disruptions will continue into the first half of 2022. This makes it all the more important to forecast programs well in advance. Fortunately, these disruptions will not affect the quality of direct mail. You can expect response rates to be as high as 9% in the next few years.

Despite these setbacks, direct mail has a better response rate than any other form of brand communication. The response rate of mail has surpassed that of social media, email marketing, and paid ads. In fact, it's now outperforming all other methods of brand communication, such as digital advertising. In 2018, direct mail received a 9% response rate, which is higher than any other form of marketing. In 2022, we can expect direct mail to grow at a faster pace.
Even though the response rate of direct mail is lower than that of other forms of marketing, the benefits of this form of communication are undeniable. Studies show that direct mail is more effective than other forms of brand communication. It is estimated that direct mail responses topped 8% in 2018. Compared to these rates, email marketing and social media only received 1% of response. And display ads barely managed to reach 0.3 percent of consumers.
